The lens through which I view the Region of Waterloo includes multigenerational roots, a life-time in K-W, a UofW health sciences degree, decades in an expansive financial services career, and working experience in our legacy manufacturing & tech sectors.
Attention to the historical values and development of our community has instilled in me appreciation, pragmatism, and a centrist philosophy.
We've long been internationally acclaimed, but to maintain this we must prioritize an infrastructure that nurtures a robust and diverse foundational economy, acts as a beacon of opportunity, enables progressive advance, and ensures environmental preservation. It is an enormous challenge: We are part of the Greater Golden Horseshoe which represents over 50% of Ontario's population, and by 2050, the Region alone is anticipating ~ 50% growth. We've the capability to meet the challenge, but it will take a prudent, accountable focus.
The economy must guide, but sustainability and social metrics must be prominent. We're a Canadian jewel because those values are representative of our innovative heritage.
I will help keep the jewel glistening.
